Discover Your Inner Child

By rayocampo. Posted in Entertainment, Family, Museum | No Comments »

Discover the world all over again through the eyes of a child. Las Vegas may be the City of Sin, but for every casino that is built for adults there is a family exhibit just around the corner.
The Lied Discovery Children’s Museum located in Downtown Las Vegas is a real treat for families. Bring your kids, bring your nieces and nephews, and bring out your inner child as you walk through rooms filled with things to learn and play with. From magnets to machines, boats to bubbles, there’s enough to keep children entertained for hours as they play with the exhibits and learn about how the world works. Even your littlest ones will smile as they play in the toddlers’ area filled with foam blocks and a padded play area. And all the while they’ll be learning about science, nutrition, and everything in between!

“I don’t know why they call this a children’s museum because I am 22 years old and still am obsessed with the place. It should be the Lied Discovery All ages museum, but I guess the mock grocery store where kids can buy plastic fruit and bread for paper money forces this into the “kid’s only” category. Huh. I don’t believe it. Anyway…if you have a child, or can borrow one for an afternoon, you HAVE to go to the Lied Museum. Not only will you blow bubble the size of a motorcycle and play with all sort of funny instruments, you will learn a thing or two in the process. Don’t believe me? Put your hand on the electric globe thingy and tell you have never felt anything like that before. On your way out, stop by the aforementioned grocery store, and learn a thing or two about saving and spending money (God knows I need to learn this lesson again and again.) As you walk out, stop by the gift shop and pick up some space ice cream bars, you know, the dehydrated ones that activate with the saliva in your mouth. They are great! Seriously, I am petitioning for a name change. Al l the goodness of this museum cannot be reserved for the tykes.
Recommended company: For your own pride, you have to bring someone twelve or under. If not, you just look silly. This reminds me, does anyone need a babysitter? I need a kid for my next visit…No need to pay me…” -Stephany S.

For only $8.50 per adult and $7.50 for kids, this is a great place for kids to have fun and learn at the same time without breaking the bank. Pack a snack, grab your family, and head on over to the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum where you’ll be sure to have a great time learning and being with your family. And who knows, maybe the child in you will come out to play, too!

Lied Discovery Children’s Museum is located at 833 North Las Vegas Blvd Las Vegas, Nevada 89101 and their phone number is (702) 382-3445. Also check them out at http://www.ldcm.org for all their great exhibits and discounts!
